About Phoebus Interiors
Based in Switzerland since 1988, Toby Alleyne-Gee has acquired a profound knowledge of European culture. Having initially read modern languages at University College, London, he completed his degree in German, Italian and Art History at the University of Zurich. Toby speaks fluent German, French and Italian. Besides languages, literature and art, classical music has always been a key interest, and he continues to cultivate this passion as an accomplished pianist. Toby has pursued a career as a writer, editor and translator, specialising in fine art and classical music, working for prestigious institutions in Switzerland and elsewhere. These include the Salzburg Festival and Zurich Opera House, as well as numerous interior design magazines such as The World of Interiors. Decorating a château near Paris, followed by his first large-scale commission – a country house in southwestern France – led Toby Alleyne-Gee to establish Phoebus Interiors in 2009. The company name, inspired by Apollo, god of the sun, music and the arts, reflects his thoroughly classical approach to design. Recent projects have included properties in Oxfordshire, Normandy, Geneva and the South of France. |
